Sunday 23rd February.
Mardi Gras celebrations here in Moraira.
There was a parade, bands and children dressed up, around the streets in the town centre at midday. A giant paella was being prepared in the main square . In the early afternoon paella was served and live music followed. We didn’t partake of the paella but when I went down later in the afternoon all the paella had gone and people were dancing to the live music. A lovely atmosphere and obviously a big day for the children.
Monday 24th February.
Last day for J,S and M. I met S at 10am to accompany her to the pharmacy. Plan was then to have a coffee at the Chinese until J and M returned from shopping expedition. We were so early (!) that the Chinese was not open so we went to the cafe next door. I remembered that we had been there on our previous trip and had taken a dislike to it due to the surly service. It hasn’t changed! Won’t go there again. As soon as the Chinese opened up we moved there and waited for J and M and N to arrive. The sun was shining and it was a sad farewell to J,S and M who leave early tomorrow morning.
Canasta for me in the afternoon, a good afternoon as usual. Then back home for a quick turnaround as it’s film night at 5.45. Film was A Great Escape, an old classic well worth seeing again. Then a stroll down to the Chinese for supper. What a busy day!!
Tuesday 25th February.
Our fortnightly Scrabble game at el Martello. Sadly the last at that venue as they are moving to a bar further out of town. A good afternoon with my usual lunch of prawns in oil and garlic accompanied by a glass of red.
Wednesday 26th February
Walk am. Watched tree surgeons starting to cut down very tall palm tree near the church.
Started jigsaw, I bought 4 wasgij jigsaws at the charity shop, my favourite jigsaws and a bargain at 2.€ each. Another walk pm and met N at gelateria for an apéro. Beautiful evening.
Thursday 27th February
Walk morning and late pm. Quite chilly in the evening.
Friday. 28th February.
Nice day. Market. Lots of stalls are now selling summer clothing, lots of very tempting items!
Walk late pm and met N at Chinese for apero.
Saturday 29th February
Conversation am. Not many there this week, just 6 of us.
Walk after and to charity shop for books.
