Monday 3rd February
Taxi to Bristol airport. Flight to Alicante left on time, 12.20. Bit of a wait on Beniconnect bus and arrived in Moraira 7pm. It had been a hot day, quite a contrast to the weather in Wells. Good to be back home, strange as it isn’t really home but it does feel like it. Pleased o say that N survived without me!.
Strolled down to the Chinese for supper.
Tuesday 4th February.
Busy morning housework and 2 load of washing. Good drying weather up on the roof here. Had a walk and shopped at Iceland. More shopping in the afternoon at Mercadona.
Wednesday 5th February.
Walk in morning and afternoon. Good to get back into my walking routine. Bit cooler today, cloudy am but sunny pm. In the pm met N at the gelateria.
Back home the oven went haywire and started a continuous beeping. Got the manual out, tried all sorts of combinations on the timer/clock but couldn’t stop it. Couldn’t find plug to turn it off, couldn’t find fuse box. N decided to go round to electrical appliances shop. Then I found the fuse box by the door, painted same colour as the wall, very unobtrusive. Wasn’t confident enough to start mess with it so dashed round to shop to find Nigel waving manual at startled assistant ( very dishy Spanish chap). I explained to them both that we had found the fuse box and that, hopefully, once we turned oven off and restarted it it would be OK. We left the bemused chap and came back home and voila! all was good once oven had been reset.
Thursday 6th February.
We decided to have a trip out to the Jalon valley, a half hour’s drive away, to see the almond blossom.https://www.myguidealicante.com/travel-articles/alicante/almond-blossom-in-jalon-valley
Although a few trees were in flower it looks as if they won’t be at their best for another couple of weeks. As the flowers appear before the leaves they are always such a beautiful sight.
We had lunch Pépés in Alcali http://www.restaurante-pepe.es/ingles/indice.html a very popular restaurant with a good menu del dia. Although it wasn’t too busy when we arrived it soon filled up and the waiters were very busy.
Friday 7th February
A, what is becoming the norm, day! A couple of walks am and pm and chilling the rest of the day. Can’t be bad!
Saturday 8th February.
Coffee/conversation morning. Good to be back after 2 weeks absence. More people each week now and a couple of new members.
Back here to get books I have read and took them back to Akira charity shop to get some more. Walked up the hill and along to the park where I sat for a while overlooking the marina. Then back into town to sit by the sea for a while before returning home. N came back a bit later, he’d been up to the park hoping to see me but our paths hadn’t crossed..
