Week 14

Sunday 1st March.
Quiet day! Had a walk in the afternoon. Went to Super Cor, supermarket nearby that is open  365 days a year apart from this year of course when there are 366. It’s very well stocked and always busy. I bumped into Bob who I know from my Saturday conversation mornings. It’s a joke that he always wears shorts even in the height of winter ( which isn’t very high here) but today he was wearing trousers. I said wow Bob, you’re wearing trousers, which could have been taken the wrong way if anyone had heard and understood me! Apparently he’d been out to a formal lunch and trousers were de rigueur.

Monday 2nd March.
Very windy and very warm. Went to pay rent. The end of our time here seems to be approaching quickly now that we are into our last month’s stay.
Canasta this afternoon and a new venue as quite a few people were unhappy with Moonlighters, the last place we used. We are now at the Hilltop pub a short drive out of the town centre and, not surprisingly at  the top of a hill! I was thrilled to find that they sell, on draught, Old Speckled Hen bitter. Very acceptable! It’s a very large pub and once inside one could imagine that one was back in the UK! They have a large screen for sporting events but we have a quiet spot round the corner so, hopefully, once it gets to be the busy season it won’t be too much of a distraction

Thunderstorm late pm.

Tuesday 3rd March.
N had rdv with Dutch doctor at the international clinic which is just round the corner from the town. Within walking distance but it was still pretty windy so we drove there. Than to Mercadona to shop. Probably our last “big shop” as we need to start using up things in the store cupboard and freezer.
Short walk in the afternoon.

Wednesday 4th March.
Walk morning, met N by the sea and sat for a while before going to Iceland to do a small shop.
Another walk in the pm. Wind dying down now, still warm.

Thursday 5th March.
Walk late morning and late afternoon. On days where we don’t have any activities we seem to be settled into a routine. A walk before lunch has become the norm and then afternoons are for reading,on the balcony or doing a jigsaw before another walk before time for the evening meal. I walked past the doggie playground and watched the dogs having a good play whilst the owners chatted. Such a good idea to have this place for the dogs to have a good run around.

Friday 6th March.
And market day rolls round again! Very windy again so many stalls absent. We went and did our fruit and veg shop and then N went back home with the purchases whilst I had a look round the stalls that were there. Now that spring is approaching there are some really nice clothes on sale. So many tempting items. Then I walked down to the seafront and met up with John, Cheryl and N for a coffee.
Walk late pm.

Saturday 7th March.
Conversation morning again. Only 8 of us there. Amphora, the Spanish lady who joined us a couple of weeks ago, came again. Such a nice lady and so good to have a native speaker to help us.
Walk after and to charity shop for books.
Walk late pm.
